Professor Roberto
BLUNDO is well known in Italy and in the world as an expert and profound connoisseur
of natural clean up biotechnologies; moreover, he is the owner of a large number
of patents. Among
them, the most important are those related with the "Biocatalysis®" plants, both as for the clean up process
(EEC Patent), and for construction planning (International Patent Pending: P.C.T.).
In addition, he takes pride in owning the intellectual property of a patent in Japan, and of other two Italian patents,
one in collaboration with ENEA, and the
other with Prof. C. H.
OPPENHEIMER, thus covering a
wide range of processes in the
research applied to soil bioremediation.
His devotion to the scientific research applied to environmental clean up,
allowed him to hold important roles such as that of: FULLBRIGHT Junior
and Senior
in Coastal Ecology at University of TEXAS, as well as scientific expert, for
more than one year, at the Office of the Leading Minister for the
Ecology (1983, Prime Minister's Office),
again in the area of water
conservation
from pollution.
As a full professor (presently in early retirement),
Professor BLUNDO settled first
at the Pharmacology and Toxicology Institute at the "Federico II" University
(Naples, Italy),
and later at the Department of Public Health and Hygiene at "Torvergata"
University(Rome, Italy). A former Professor of
marine Biology at the University of Maryland (USA) NATO
Base, as well as at University of TEXAS, he is also a member of
the Undersea MEDICAL
Society (California); moreover, he has been University Guest for a
two-year period
at the Eco-Toxicology and Environmental Microbiology Laboratory at the "Istituto
Superiore di Sanità" (Rome). President of the Italian Association of
Coastal Ecology (non-profit organisation since 1972), member of the Board of
Directors of the "Tevere 2000" Foundation, Director of the 1st Ministerial
course in CAPRI concerning the Didactics of Coastal Ecology in Italy, he participated
to 67 congresses of which 54 in Italy, 8 in Europe, 3 in Asia and 2 in Africa.
He published 46 scientific reports (among which 2 books, together with Prof.
C. H. OPPENHEIMER). He has participated to several national "Television
and Radio" shows, with "ad personam"
interviews concerning the ecologic disasters and about
the related natural remedies, as well as many articles
on national newspapers and magazines.
Since 1976 he holds the role of technical scientific director of the company
"ECOBIOS Italy" (ROME) of which he is also founder and stockholder. In
addition, since 1982 he is also the President of ECOBIOS Incorporation,
located in Texas, member of which is also the colleague Prof. C. H. OPPENHEIMER,
former Director of the Institute of Marine Science of the University of Texas at
Port Aransas.
