ECOBIOS®
Italy has its own technology for the clean up of waters. It was
studied and patented
by
Prof. Roberto BLUNDO
(sole director of the Company which has its operative
facilities
in Rome). The application of this technology is the
exclusive right of ECOBIOS over
the entire Italian
territory and, since 1993, also in the European Union member
countries. Moreover, since 1999 the patent has been extended also to the
plant engineering part with an international protection P.C.T. One of the
main
Advantages
of the process is due to its huge versatility that makes its application
possible in many sectors of clean up, among which:
-
Waste water treatment plant of any type: urban and industrial
(toxic and harmful as well)
- In situ”
bioremediation (without moving the
soil)
of soils contaminated by the spilling of hydrocarbons or other
polluting substances
- Immediate intervention in coastal waters for accidental
oil
spill
and its derivatives;
- Treatment of the organic fraction of
solid wastes
and percolate
in wasteyards.
This
technology makes use of selected strains of microorganism (mainly
natural marine bacteria joint together in consortial forms, compatible
among themselves) not genetically modified and harmless, which are able to
give the right response to any kind of water to be treated,
and defeat any polluting
organic compound.
The natural action of these bacteria is synergically integrated
by a Biocatalyst®, which activates and accelerates the activity of metabolization and transformation of polluted waters,
and allows
the bacteria to live and carry out their functions in fresh water
as well (high tolerance factor to salinity).
This consortium of selected microrganisms has made possible the clean
up of very difficult and complex waters such as those of:
-
Thomson Group (Videocolor S.p.A. ANAGNI (FR) - Italy): waste waters
containing high concentration of Metacrilates, Polyvinyl Alcohol
and Chromium VI
- AGIP Petroli, S.p.A. (Coastal Storage GAETA (LT) - Italy):
displacement
waters from tankers and drainage waters
from tanks, containing
unleaded fuel (with MTBE) and Super (with lead), as well as Kerosene
( with Ethylenic Glycol) and Diesels (with various additives).
- I.L.S.A.P. S.r.l. (Latina) and S.A.B. S.r.l. (CT) - Italy:
waters from the washing of slaughterhouses and pig farm.
Advantages
Our Biocatalytical process besides having huge versatility, that makes possible its
application in many sectors of clean up, also offers all the following
advantages:
- drastic reduction of dehydration, inertization, collecting, transportation
and extra sludge disposal costs (the few
sludges
developed appear to be
just excellent integrative fertilizers: COMPOST)
- total abatement
of “chemical” costs for clarification and disinfection with chlorination of
water (this is because of
the microbial antagonism mentioned above
between the marine bacteria and the faecal ones)
- planned
under-dimension of the volumes of the oxidation tanks in the
building phase or, if these exist already, increase of the retention times
with a consequent capability to clean up a greater quantity of organic
compound.
- our marine bacteria are more active and faster of autoctonus
microorganisms (normally present into the waste waters), of the
various organolytic spontaneous processes;
- the bacteria strains used are all natural and, for not being
genetically modified, are completely harmless for the human beings
because strongly antagonists of harmful and pathogens microorganisms;
- the natural bacteria mentioned above, inhibit also the growth
of filamentous microorganisms, avoiding in such way undesired
bulking effects (floatation with coming up of filamentous sludge);
- temporary production of extra sludge, by being well
mineralized,
results around 80-90% less and in many cases also completely absent
(i.e. Agip and Thomson);
- the very few sludge produced, present thus excellent characteristics
of settling, they are lacking pathogen microorganisms and, by
containing significant quantities of Umic and Fulvic
acids, they can be profitably used (with respectfulness of the
laws in forces) as natural organic fertilizers for those soils
particularly impoverished (greenhouse cultivations);
- the dosage of chemical coagulants products (polyelectrolyte,
flocculants, etc.) are not needed for the clarification of the
water and for the development of re-circling sludge;
- complete absence of bad odours, particularly mephitic in summertime,
which consents a great saving for the eventual installation of
covering systems or to deodorizing equipments;
- urban effluent, thanks to the microbial antagonism of marine
bacteria on the faucal, is characterized by a very low colimetry,
which consents the deactivation of the disinfection systems with
a further reduction of the running costs.
